My First Beadwork Pendants

Beadwork Pendants

When it comes to handmade jewellery, I'm always looking to learn new styles and techniques. So I've been teaching myself how to make beadwork jewellery.

If you're not familiar with beadwork, it's the process of connecting beads together using a needle and thread in order to craft a unique piece of jewellery (wiki).

They look really simple to make, right? Not exactly. Beadwork can be quite fiddly and intricate, what with threading tiny seed beads on thin needles and figuring out bead sizes and ratios. It's quite a science, hehe! The green and purple pendant on the left took me 5 hours to complete and the blue pendant took about 4. I was designing a website at the same time but still!

These two pendants are my first attempt at beadwork jewellery and I really enjoyed creating them. They will be available in my handmade shop very soon, along with the ones I'm currently working on.

Apologies for the poor quality pictures, they were taken using my camera phone and a shakey hand (I was hungry!).

Very nice! I do a lot of jewelry, but just haven't gotten into this type. I like it, and it's probably the only jewelry I buy, basically because I don't enjoy making it.

Always great to receive good feedback from a fellow jewellery maker, thanks Cheryl =) I do know what you mean, it can take a while to make just one beadwork pendant but the satisfaction you get once it's finished is definitely worth it. Even more so if someone else likes your hard work enough to buy it.
